Yellowstone Fall 2016

My name is Hayden Zander. I am from Killdeer, ND and am studying Fisheries and Wildlife Science at VCSU. I plan to graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in the Fisheries concentration. After that, I want to pursue a Master’s degree in entomology, but I don’t know where yet. I have been to Yellowstone two times before, but that was when I was much younger. I took this class to really experience the wildness of the park and learn more about the wolves that were reintroduced the year I was born. With me being a bug guy, I will also keep my eye out for any interesting insects in the park, provided it’s not too cold for them all.

The insect world continues to survive. There is the damaging white pine beetles that can effect the nuts that bears need to add fat before they hibernate. Very little has been done to study the insects found on Yellowstone kill after animals have scavenged. Maybe there is a study in this for you. I appreciate people with different interests. Sometimes we are so busy looking at the big that we forget the importance of small creatures and how they fit into the ecosystem
