Day 2: Its all about the weather

Today we got to see a few new species. right away in the morning we went and looked for some Pika and actually were successful in finding a few. While viewing these mammals our guide Shauna gave us insight in how these mammals are adapted to living in the climate and how they cant handle the heat or else they will die and then on the other hand it cant get too cold. After the pika we moved on and scanned the mountain side for some mountain goats and got to find a few. We learned how micro climates play an important role in the uprising of trees out in low lands and mountain sides. We also had an interesting even where we got to witness a coyote that previously nipped t someone actually sneaked up on a different person and was looking for food and the rangers ran out and sprayed the coyote but the coyote payed no attention to it still lunged at the rangers.
