Yellowstone Day 3

Today was another good day in Yellowstone. The majority of the the wildlife we saw today were elk. We FINALLY got to see multiple big bull elk. The first one we saw was just south of the entrance gate, that could have been our indicator to how the rest of the day would go.

As we ventured further into this morning we came across the Prospect pack—almost the whole pack (12 out of 14), again they were out of their own territory. It was awesome when we saw the pack move on top of the skyline for only a few minutes then disappear.

One of the best parts of the day was our long hike. We stumbled upon many skulls, bones, and sheds. The scenery was great walking along the river and through the brush. It was great to get off the road and go for a long hike.

In the afternoon, we got to see a bull just of the road near Blacktail and then “Broken Nose” wonder through Mammoth. It was pretty cool to have so many elk sightings today.

We ended by sitting in the hot springs. It was different because the river was constantly changing temperatures, one moment it would be cool and the next extremely hot. I was glad it was something we had the opportunity to experience.
