Today, we left Valley City State University at 5:55 pm in two vans filled with students, bags and supplies. Everyone slept the first two hours of the trip leaving Dr. Ketterling to his thoughts. Once we reached Bismarck, we stopped at a McDonalds to eat breakfast and to use the bathroom. I ate a breakfast sandwich and had orange juice. The group preceded towards the Painted Canyon Visitor Center to view the badlands and use the bathroom. Next we traveled to Beach ND to get snacks and to use the restroom. Then we traveled to Billings, MT to eat lunch and to refuel the vans. The group split into three groups eat going to a different restaurant. Subway, Arbys and Pizza Hut were the main choices the group had to choose. I chose Subway and ordered a turkey breast sandwich on Italian herbs and cheese bread with lettuce, pickles, cucumbers, and spinach as toppings. We left Billings and traveled to Livingston Wyoming and everyone bought groceries for the upcoming hike. Upon arriving to Gardiner, the group observed mule deer, elk, domesticated bison and horses in the fields and ditches near the road. Once the group unpacked and settled into our rooms, most of the group traveled to a local pizza place. Finally, the group got together to do homework and talk about the exciting adventures that will occur tomorrow.
