Well it snowed in Yellowstone last night. The mountains were beautiful with the snow covered pine trees and the bison dotting the landscape. We looked for wolves and bears all day but we didn’t see any, there was lots of sign and tracks though. Our first hike was up to a elk kill sight to learn about how that impacts the ecosystem. learning that that kill can influence everything from mice to butterflies and plants was important because you realize that everything has an effect on the rest of the ecosystem. The second hike was to the acclimation pens where the wolves were reintroduced to the park. It was good to see where these first wolves were reintroduced and to view where history was made.

Why were the wolves reintroduced in acclimation pens?
They need to get used to the climate and when you release them after traveling for a while they tend to run away and go back to where they came from. There were also wolves from two different packs and if they arent slowly introduced they tend to kill eachother
Why were the wolves reintroduced in the acclimation pens?
Was there a reason why the wolves weren’t out? Do to the weather or anything?
