Today we discussed wolves and how they play a part in the greater Yellowstone ecosystem. We talked about their ranges within the park and how they are valuable to the ecosystem. We first took a hike to an old elk head that has been laying there for several years. We all took a picture and moved on with our next hike. After we took another hike to the pens where the wolves were placed before released into the park. The hike total was about 3 miles but took 2 hours to complete due the guide explaining the entire story of how the wolves were trapped in Canada and released back in the park. We then stopped and talked briefly to one of the Yellowstone Forever employee who talked about wolves and their benefits within the Yellowstone park. Overall it was a great day and great weather near the end. Tomorrow we talk about climate change and pika!
