Today was another great day in Yellowstone but started off way different than every other day that we’ve had so far. Right when we left the hotel we left to the Hells Roaring area to look for Pika. Pika are a really small animal in the rabbit family but they don’t look a whole lot like a rabbit, instead they look like a grey and are about as small as a hamster. We ended up seeing three Pika which was quite the feat. Once we were done seeing the Pika we were driving down the road and saw a ton of people along the road just down from the Lamar valley, and saw 8 of the Junction Butte pack feeding on a bison carcass.
After that we left to go hike the Junction Butte which ended up being a 5 mile hike round trip. Me and Gunnar decided to sprint up half the mountain and about died but we made it none the less. The view was amazing and something I’ve never seen before. From the top of Junction Butte we left for the Confluence of the Yellowstone and the Lamar River. This was pretty sweet because it’s two major rivers which combine into one magnificent river. Our day ended with that, then our group went to the boiling river which is a section of the Gardiner river where hot springs meet it and create a hot pool which is burning you one second and freezing the next, but pretty cool overall.
