Yellowstone Day 3

Today in Yellowstone we started the day off by looking for wolves.  Although today we did not see any wolves, we did see a grizzly bear across the Lamar Valley.  We watched this bear for about 45 minutes until it walked up the hillside and into the trees.  Following the bear we tried to find some moose without any success, so instead we did another bison demographic herd study.  Once we finished that we heard news that there were wolves a couple of miles down the road so we went there to try and find them.  Although we showed up late to see most of them, there were still two of the pups bedded down along the treeline.

We also hiked up to the acclimation pens, the fenced in area where the wolves were originally released into the park.  It was about a two mile hike one way but it was well worth the time and effort put into it.  Then we ended the day with a speaker who talked to us about the wolves in Yellowstone and the surrounding areas.
