Day 3 Chapin

Day three was our wolf day, we started our day at 6 a.m. to see the wolves we went to the Lamar Valley to look for the wolf pack we say yesterday. We didn’t find any wolves in the morning but our tour guide saw a Grizzly bear we stayed and watched it for about an hour. From there we found a herd of bison and did a demographic of them. After we did that we started down the road to try and find some moose but we where not lucky enough to find them. We saw a couple of coyotes throughout the day and got word that there was wolves.

So we went to the spot and I myself didn’t see the wolves but others did. We then went on a walk to see the original spot of reintroduction of the wolf which was neat. We ended our tour with a wolf speaker which was a good talk and she showed some videos of what her boss does. We ended the day by going to the boiling river and relaxed for a bit.

  • When you were looking for wolves did you expect to see a bear at all during this day and was this bear bigger then a normal bear from your point of view?

Everyone was really hoping to see a bear throughout the whole trip! The bear was a Grizzly so larger than normal and once we saw it, it was able to be seen just with your eyes and no binoculars.

  • This trip sounds so interesting! The Lamar valley sounds beautiful. It is very cool that you were able to go back to where the wolves were first introduced.

The trip was well worth it I wish I would have done it freshman year and every other year after. Yes, it was cool to see the pen and after so many years it looked to be in such good shape!
