This morning was more brisk than yesterday as expected with the coming rains. We made the kill from yesterday our morning priority in hopes of glassing wolves. Unfortunately by light all there was were a few coyotes feeding on the scraps. Their howls felt eerie as they filled the silence of the early morning.
With the carcass being a bust this morning we ended up driving and glassing at a few promising spots but all were to no avail. It seems the prominent Yellowstone wolves eluded us today, as did any bears. With tomorrow being our last day with the experienced wolf watchers I am hoping to glass at least another wolf; hopefully one that is moving around.
Once on our own we ended up visiting the Norris Geyser Basin. The pools were a beautiful aquamarine, and the rain I’m guessing made the steam thicker. We didn’t see any of the geysers go off but there were many small little “bubblers” as Katie and I were calling them. The rain was more consistent during this part of the trip so I did end up a bit soggy but luckily the walking kept me warm. Looking forward to a bit more action tomorrow, maybe we’ll get lucky.
