The group has been back in North Dakota for a while now, and I am already missing the majestic mountains on the horizon. I enjoyed seeing the scenic view of the mountains from my rom every day. I grew up in flat North Dakota, where I could nothing for miles but farm land. Living near the mountains was an amazing experience which I will never forget. My favorite part of this Yellowstone trip was searching for the allusive wolf. I have always been fascinated with wolves and only seen them in the Denver zoo, which had a small pack. It was interesting seeing these majestic creatures live completely in the wild without any human influences. The group found pika on the third day which was a shocking surprise since the last year group stated they were hard to find due to their allusive nature. I enjoyed the long hikes through the backcountry of Yellowstone looking for mammal signs and the possibility of running into a bear, even if it would be potentially dangerous. If I could go back to Yellowstone, I would want to search for a sign of a wolverine. I would love to see one in person but due to their secluded nature, a sign of one would be just as good. I enjoyed my experience at Yellowstone and I would like to thank Dr. Ketterling for all the hard work and planning he does for us to give us this amazing experience.
