Day 2

Today was our first real day out in the field, and it was great. Right away in the morning, the spot we stopped to set up the spotting scopes at gave us a great view of a large grizzly bear, a lazy wolf, a fox, a couple of pronghorn bucks, a group of bighorn sheep way up on a ridge, and lots of bison in the Lamar Valley. We then moved over to great spot to see mountain goats, and from there to an area where a bison died of natural causes, and the grizzlies and wolves had a hay day. After looking around the area, we discovered lots more bones and elk antlers from previous kills. After leaving there we observed a mother black bear and her cub. Then we went back to the hotel, and turned around back to Mammoth Hot Springs and walked over the board walks overlooking the terraces. Overall, it was a great day, and I learned a lot from our guides from Wolf Tracker’s.
