Dillon Day 3

Today we left at 6:00 A.M. to go to the Hayden Valley to try to see the wolf pack in the area along with a possible grizzly. it was a cold morning with flurries of snow and slightly windy. there were other wolf watchers in the area when we arrived. they had not spotted anything yet, so we set up our spotting scopes. We spotted a few bison bedded down and a elk, but we did not see any wolves. when in the bus warming up another watcher said he spotted a wolverine in the tree line, we did not get a chance to see it, because it ran into the trees too fast.

After Hayden valley we went to hike to the lake, which was a quite cold walk right away, but when we got into the tree line it was perfect weather. it was the first time for me seeing the lake. Also we spotted many mammal sign on the trail, the most interesting was mountain lion scat. after the lake we went to lower geyser basin to see the the four types of thermal features.

the most interesting and most fun for me today was walking up and down the rock piles looking for pika. I did not see one, but I got some tracks to use for our mammalogy class.
