It was a beautiful day in the park today. In my preference the weather was perfect. we went to the mammoth hot springs to have Travis, the bear and elk biologist, talk to us about the bear populations, and the problems they face with the many grizzly bears in the park. Such as removing the garbage dumps, the last garbage dump was removed in 1982, along with the food population that the bear eat. when in mammoth there were elk roaming the streets and a large bull bedding in the lawn with his harem of cows, we also looked at the terrace hot springs. the coolest thing spotted today were some wolf tracks next to our picnic area. we did not see a bear or wolf, but we did see a coyote, which is always a fun sight to see. we ended the day going through Norris and canyon looking at the different plant ecosystems they have in the park along with the different acidic soil associates with the plants.
