Final Thoughts

I thought the trip was a great first-hand experience. We saw a lot of wildlife and other identifying factors for Yellowstone. I learned a lot during the trip. Our tour guides were awesome and explained a lot. When we visited the bison kill. They explained how the bears and wolves kill their prey and how one can determine if it was a wolf or bear kill. The bison we saw was a bear kill. We also went to a river system and explored the river bank for tracks. It was really cool seeing all the animals tracks along the river. It was easier to see the difference between a wolf and a coyote track, especially when one can compare them side-by-side. What I enjoyed most about the trip… I thoroughly enjoyed being able to just go out and explore. I think everyone in the group jumped on the opportunity to go for a hike to go see something. I found it rewarding to go for a hike and have an experience come out of it. The last day with the wolf trackers we went for a quick quarter mile hike up a hill and saw a pack of 5-9 wolves moving across the horizon. After the experience I would like to learn how these animals interact with each other on an everyday basis. When we saw an animal it was more or less with its own kind or just by itself. I would like to see first-hand how a black bear and a grizzly interact or a wolf and coyote. We saw all these species, but they were either with their own kind or by themselves. One of the things I won’t forget is definitely seeing my first grizzly bear and wolf in the wild. I’ve seen moose, elk, pronghorn, and etc. in the wild before the trip. It was a great first sighting, too bad they couldn’t have been closer. I’m not complaining though, they were ultimately very exciting to see. Seeing Old Faithful for the first time too was super exciting. The first time we watched it from the tourist spot and the second time it went up I was watching it from the lookout. The sound that it makes when it erupts was almost a low rumble and then steam and water blasting into the air. From the overlook area you can see everything plain as day, but do not get to experience the sounds and smells of Old Faithful. I’m happy I was able to do both, the overlook and the platform.
