Today was an early morning. We were up and ready to go by 6:00 this morning. We started on the black tail plateau at sunrise. Here we didn’t see much, but we did hear elk bugling. We saw some white tail deer run up a draw being chased by a coyote, but that’s nothing new for me to see. We moved up further into the valley and stopped again and set up the spotting scopes across the Lamar valley. We saw the juveniles from the prospects sunning on the other side of the valley. The would occasionally howl to call for their parents. This was amazing to sit and watch them. Bison, antelope, and mule deer crossed the valley and the wolves were not to interested. The next site we scanned for more wolves, but didn’t find any. eventually we saw some big horn sheep on top the ridge about a mile away. We learned stories about prominent wolves in the parks history. We visited an abandoned wolf den to learn about how the wolves denned with their pups. We heard from a speaker about the ecology of the elk and bears in Yellowstone. We finished the night with
