Today we planned to have a bison day but turned out to be a whole lot more than that. Right away we did a herd demographic survey and did our best to count the adult males/females, then all the juvenile male/female. While we were watching the bison we noticed a fair amount of cars had gathered in the Lamar valley so we went over there to check it out. Turns out the junction butte pack was in the valley and we ended up spotting 17 of them. They chased a couple of bison around but sadly didn’t kill any of them.
When we left Lamar valley we headed up to Barronotte peak to take our hand at spotting mountain goats. The hillside was partially covered in snow so it made spotting them extremely difficult. Dillon, I and the guide all spotted one which the rest of us confirmed. Next on the list was a hike finally. We hiked up to the Yellowstone and Lamar River Confluence, which was some really cool scenery we got to enjoy our lunch in.
