Hey everyone,
Today was more exciting then yesterday as we were able to actually explore parts of Yellowstone today. Our two main stops for the day were Mammoth Hot Springs and Canyon. The first stop was Mammoth, where first we had a talk from Travis about the elk history/management in the park. This was pretty interesting. He also talked to us about some of the grizzly management/safety, which is his favorite thing to do. After the talk our tour guide took us over to the hot springs and talked to us about the geology of the land. Next we went to Canyon. We went on about a 1/4 mile hike where we talked about the different kinds of trees and looked at the pretty falls and canyon. Lastly for the day, we finished with a talk about climate change from Mike and Ashea. It was cool hearing about their hike to the Trident and their bear encounter stories. Going to canyon was my favorite part of the day.
Sincerely,
