Today we got left Gardiner at 6. We went straight to the Hayden Valley. We set up to watch for wolves and bears but found none. There were a few bison and deer spotted. A wolf watcher claimed to have seen a wolverine along the tree line, but no one else saw it. It was cold and windy. I am glad I wore many layers. After looking for wolves, we went for a three mile walk by Yellowstone Lake. The wind picked up and it started to snow. The hike was my favorite thing I have done on the trip so far. We saw multiple mammal sign including mountain lion scat, elk rubs, and bear scratches. The hike started out in a forested area then the trail was next to the Yellowstone lake. The lake was way bigger than I expected. It look like it was an ocean because the fog hid the opposite shoreline. After the hike we had lunch. After lunch, we hike around the lower geyser basin. We then drove to some pika habitat and look for pika. We didn’t see any pika, but we did get to do some rock climbing, which I always enjoy. We headed back to Gardiner around 5. It was an 11 hour day but only it felt like 4 hour day.
