Our second day was filled with an off and on drizzle, and cloudy skies. Even though the weather was kind of bleak it did not stop us from having an eventful day. We went back into the Lamar Valley, and saw lots of bison, some elk, mountain goats, and a coyote, but no wolves. We did more hiking today. We hiked down to the Lamar River. When we got down to the river we took some time to reflect on our surroundings, and write about what we saw, and how it made us feel. This was something that I had never done, but it was a very refreshing experience. I felt that it made me appreciate the true beauty of the park, and the natural world.
We had a speaker name Mike Trcek later in the night talk to us about climate change, and the research he has done in the park. The data that he showed about the changing climate, and the effects it on the park. The information he shared with us was troubling to me. In a sense it made me feel small, and defenseless to the effects of our ever changing world. I really enjoyed the topic of climate change, and it sparked my curiosity about the science of climate change.
