Today was an early day for our group meeting with our tour guide at 6 in the morning in Gardiner. Today was our wolf day where we went to Lamar Valley to see the Junction Butte pack, but didn’t have any success. We did see a coyote pounce on what we assumed to be a rodent very close to the road with a lot of tourists taking pictures of him. Since wolves searching wasn’t a success, Gunnar spotted some big horned sheep way up on the mountain ridge before leaving the Junction Buttes resting area. Then after we looked for wolves we went to go look for moose and mountain goats on Barronette Peak.
We ended up eating on the road before we hiked up to a wolf kill on a double droptined bull elk carcass. On the way we had a little snowball competition were no one was safe except our director and tour guide. Our guide told us about the first wolves that got reintroduced into the park, and brought us up to the acclimation pens where they had the wolves before they got released into the park. After the longer hike of the day we had a meeting with Nathan and he told us about how the wolves have spread biodiversity throughout the whole park.

Where would the wolves be? Why are they not out and about?
